Spoken
At first it remains only a word
Heard or not
It is only a word
But no sooner than it is
Spoken
It hits your ears
Ringing
Reverberating
Rousing
The word
Only a word
Spoken
Stirs the mind
Pierces the heart
Wrenches the gut
Filling the body, flowing through every cell
The word takes on flesh
Living
The Word transforms that in which it dwells
Seconds, minutes, hours, days, years pass by
Ever growing
Disrupting and disturbing
The Word
Spoken
And heard
Seizes control
Drawing its inhabitants
To move and to speak
To say and to do
Borders are crossed
Thus causing One
Hurt and hurting,
Silenced and silencing,
Alone and lonely,
to cross a border
And speak a word.
